About
Ashley Barron is a Toronto-based illustrator who specializes in cut-paper collage. Her illustrations have appeared in a variety of magazines and children’s publications, as well as posters, packaging, clothing lines, animations and set design.
Originally from Whitby, Ontario, she graduated from OCAD’s illustration program in 2007, and has resided in Toronto ever since. With a deep appreciation for nature, Ashley finds inspiration in Canada’s vast boreal forest. Her playful depictions of flora and fauna combine elements of geometry, pattern, and a love of colour.
Ashley is the illustrator of Owlkids’ Math in Nature series, written by Lizann Flatt. These four books cover an array of North American animals in their natural habitat, each presenting a new math problem for kids to figure out. “Counting on Fall”, “Sorting through Spring”, “Sizing up Winter” and “Shaping up Summer” are for sale at the Owlkids Store.
